The Asia-Pacific region features some of the fastest, but also some of the slowest, internet connections in the world.
South Korea ranks top, followed by Japan and Hong Kong. In contrast, India, Vietnam and the Philippines lie at the bottom of the pile.

Differences in telecommunications infrastructure and regulations largely explain South Korea's performance but countries at the bottom of the pile have a lot of catching up to do and need to think more seriously about the issue, particularly as they look to stimulate consumer demand (which is increasingly begin handled online) and drive higher-value added industrial development, which is dependent on high-quality telecommunications infrastructure.
